Mettur Dam - சுண்ணாம்பு மற்றும் காரையில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ள மேட்டூர் அணையின் மொத்த நீளம் 5300 அடியாகும். அணையின் அதிகபட்ச உயரம் 214 அடியாகும். அதிகபட்ச அகலம் 171 அடியாகும். அணையின் சேமிப்பு உயரம் 120 அடியாகும். மேட்டூர் அணையில் 59.25 சதுர மைல் பரப்பளவில் நீர்தேக்கி வைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த அணையினால், தமிழ்நாட்டில் 20 இலட்சம் ஏக்கருக்கு மேல் பாசன வசதி பெற்றன.
அதாவது, திருச்சி மாவட்டத்தில் 2.74 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரும், தஞ்சாவூர், திருவாரூர், நாகப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டங்களில் 12.05 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரும், சேலம் மாவட்டத்தில் 4.66 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரும் புதுக்கோட்டை மற்ற மாவட்டங்களில் 2.70 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரும் சாகுபடி செய்யப்பட்டது. ஆனால், இப்போது தமிழ்நாட்டில் மொத்த சாகுபடியே 16 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரில்தான் செய்யப்படுகின்றன. அதில் குறுவை 4 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரிலும், சம்பா 12 இலட்சம் ஏக்கரிலும் செய்யப்படுகின்றன.
