Infosys Boosts GCC Operations, Appoints Deval Shah as Leader

Bengaluru: Infosys is strengthening its global capability centre (GCC) operations by launching a dedicated practice and appointing Deval Shah as its leader, sources told TOI. Shah, previously VP and delivery head at Infosys, was formerly MD and India head for Danske IT and Support Services. In 2022, Infosys secured a $454-million deal with Danske Bank, acquiring its India IT hub with 1,400 staff. Denmark-based Danske Bank serves personal, business, and institutional clients, and Infosys is enhancing its tech transformation and efficiency.

An internal memo highlighted Project Altius, emphasizing GCC growth as a priority. “The GCC market is booming, with opportunities in multi-year transformation deals like BOT models, joint ventures, and scaling existing centres,” it noted. Infosys sees a robust deal pipeline and needs solutions and legal and compliance expertise. The new GCC practice evolves from its existing centre of excellence to meet industry standards.

When TOI queried CEO Salil Parekh on GCC expansion, he noted close collaboration with clients to establish or grow GCCs. “We recently won major GCC contracts in services and aviation, and we’re optimistic,” he said. In January, TOI reported Infosys establishing a GCC for Lufthansa in Bengaluru under a $300-million IT deal to boost the airline’s software development and support external clients.

Cognizant recently named Sailaja Josyula as global GCC head, based in Hyderabad, to lead its strategy and cross-functional team. Josyula rejoined Cognizant after a short tenure at EY. CEO Ravi Kumar told TOI that Cognizant views GCCs as partners, collaborating to handle specific tasks.
